Message to Families on Homework & Exit Ticket Policies

Hello BSA Families,

I’ve written to students and staff about some adjustments to BSA homework policies, but some of the communications didn’t go to you.  I’m sending this message to correct that mistake. First, I’d like to summarize the changes and then the entire text that went to students follows on separate emails as PDF files.

Exit ticket & incomplete classwork due times:

Starting Monday 10/12, all classwork and exit tickets left undone at the completion of a class will be due at 5:30 on THE NEXT WEEK DAY.

To be clear, this would mean that class work and exit tickets left undone at the conclusion of a Thursday class would be due at 5:30 on the following Friday. Or class work and exit tickets undone at the conclusion of a Tuesday class would be due at 5:30 on the following Wednesday. Let me know how this works for you.

Homework due intervals:

With synchronous classes separated by 72 or 96 hours, all homework should have a 48 hour period of time between assignment and due time.

For instance, if your class is first period on Monday and the assignment is made at 10 a.m., it should be due no earlier than Wednesday at 10 a.m. That will give the student 48 hours to complete the work and the teacher would have 24 hours to assess the quality of the homework prior to the Thursday meeting.
